A Letter From Our Founder:
“Dear friends, colleagues, and the public,
We are in a moment of transition where, for the first time in nearly half a century, a revolution is taking hold in the world of crop protection services. I would like to take this opportunity to remind you why we are here and share with you the sense of responsibility for the technology we have here at Zasso.
Some time ago I talked to a potential investor and explained the technology we were looking to develop at Zasso. He told me that he thought this was a “small niche.” I smiled because as he answered this he wore a leather shoe, certainly confined cattle that ate transgenic grains, a crop that is inexorably cultivated with herbicides. Wore cotton clothes, where herbicides are indispensable. He had a cup of coffee with herbicides, where he put sugar from herbicide filled sugarcane. Coffee spattered on the simple wooden table made of eucalyptus, treated in the first two years with herbicides. To clean, he used paper, also made from planted forest treated with herbicides. When he left, he walked on the sidewalk, whose gutter is treated with herbicides in a monthly base in Brazil.
Among the many health ailments, non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma is the most common cancer bestowed on those who use these chemicals frequently. Recently the first result of a trial against the largest company in the industry came out, proving that she struggled to hide the facts and results of research showing her knowledge of the subject – which was not new to the scientific community. She was required to pay some hundreds of millions of Euros. There are about 14.000 of other such cases in the pipeline, which would be enough to bankrupt the US or Europe, not to say a chemical company.
But herbicides are not only bad for us, its cost to the environment is incalculable. We are talking about the extinction of countless amphibian species, the deaths of millions of birds, the reduction in the number of bees, among many others. It may sound silly, but amphibians feed on disease-spreading mosquitoes, bees pollinate flowers and fruits and … I like birds.
This is not a problem that is solved by banning herbicides, because without them the price of food, paper and wood would explode. This problem is solved with technology, and although many are trying, only Zasso has a technology that can actually replace herbicides in a broad way.
Every sale made, every screw tightened, every time you keep the environment clean, every time you’re kind to your co-worker, we’re closer to helping change reality, bringing the world closer to what it should be. Zasso’s success may bring you financial and professional opportunities – we all have bills at the end of the month, personal problems and hardships, but remember: your children, wives, husbands, and other loved ones may one day eat better, dress better and live a healthier life because of the work you have done here. This, of course, when we are successful, which will be accomplished with the greatest effort and collaboration of all.
Thank you for your support and enthusiasm in making Zasso a success.
